Restoring Quickbooks Files from your Accountant

You will get an email from the CHMS intranet server, stating that your accountant is sending you a link to download a file. Click on the URL to download the file:
Choose to Save the file

 

Click on Desktop and then the Save button

 

Close the Download dialog if it's there.
Open QuickBooks and choose File > Restore...
Click Browse ...

Locate the file on your Desktop and double-click it click it once to select and then click the Open button

(it may not be called "mybackup")

Browse to or type in the desired destination path (Location). Typically you will want to replace your existing QuickBooks company file. They are usually located in
C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\

If you are unsure of where your quickbooks file is located on your computer, you can locate all the quickbooks files on your machine by clicking Start > Search > All Files and Folders > and looking for files named: *.QBW

Click Restore.

This will create a working quickbooks file (File Extension .QBW) in the location you specified. You can use Quickbooks to open this file.

You may delete the backup file from the desktop any time after the restore is complete.
